Living in the South West

Plymouth HoeWherever you are based in the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry across the South West, you will benefit from fantastic facilities. Whether at Exeter, Plymouth or Truro you will be close to the sea and have access to an exciting array of sporting and watersport activities including surfing, sailing and diving as well as some very picturesque beaches.

Given the South West location, waterbased activities are extremely popular and well represented. The University of Plymouth is unique in having its own Diving and Marine Centre. Set in a prime waterfront location, the Diving and Marine Centre is a British Sub Aqua Club Dive School and a Royal Yachting Association approved teaching centre, providing a wide range of watersports courses. In addition, the Mount Batten Centre play host to the University’s watersport activities and Students Union Watersports Clubs.

As well as good places to shop, including the brand new Drake Circus Shopping Mall in Plymouth, there are plenty of places of interest in the area including the world famous Eden Project in Cornwall, the Dartmoor National Park and the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall.

There are plenty of clubs and societies on both Plymouth and Exeter Universities campuses as well as city centre bars, nightclubs, cinemas and restaurants to ensure you enjoy a thriving social life.

Whatever your interests there is something to suit everyone!
